Hi. I've been interested in Japanese culture and lifestyle (and I recognise this, like most countries, varies from region to region) since the mid eighties. I studied traditional Shotokan karate in my late teens and became a Shodan grade, during which time I met and trained with a number of Japanese Sensei.

My appreciation for the Japanese videogame further increased my interest and I vowed one day to visit the country. Sadly this has not yet happened, largely due to financial constraints. I would love to see Tokyo one day.

Anyone reading this planning a trip, or been on holiday to Tokyo?

hi,

Tokyo is interesting and truly massive, but it can be very expensive. You need to befriend someone from there who can take you to traditional and modern places without using a lot of cash. Japan is a very reasonable place to travel to, but you have to plan well in advance. These days a 1 week stay out of season in a western style hotel could be done for less than a thousand Pounds. If you are into gaming, there will be a lot of temptation to spend your cash.Anyone need any help about holidating in japan, just contact me, and i'll try my best to help.

I am trying to put more in the blog about life in Japan. It is hard to think of stuff to put sometimes as my view is mostly of life in the countryside and i don`t go to Tokyo which seems many non Japanese are most interested in.

Somethings are getting easier for me here in the sticks. Technology makes life easier here for keeping touch wit back home. Japan is finally embarcing imports, so many items are now lowering in price every year. In fact most things haven`t increased in price since i arrived almost ten years ago.

Sadly interest in retro is decreasing here but on the other hand many retro games are now cheaper than before.
